The AI supports the workflow; it does not approve the maintenance action.

Mimir can shorten the path to relevant information, organize evidence, and help a user orient across documents. It cannot determine airworthiness, certify a repair, replace required qualifications, override technical data, or turn generated language into an approved procedure.

Maintainers often work across multiple manuals, schematics, inspection criteria, local SOPs, parts references, and prior fault-isolation notes. Terminology varies by platform and revision, while the exact condition may not match the heading a person remembers. Retrieval-augmented generation can help connect a natural-language question to relevant passages across that approved library.

Mimir returns a synthesized response with inspectable source citations when approved evidence is available. The user can move from the summary to the cited material, confirm applicability and revision, and follow the governing procedure. When evidence is missing or ambiguous, the safer behavior is to qualify, abstain, or escalate.

Rotations and personnel changes can separate a team from the local context that made prior troubleshooting effective. A governed pack can include approved lessons, site diagrams, known deviations, escalation paths, and platform-specific context alongside formal publications.

Local knowledge needs ownership and review. Each item should have provenance, applicability, revision state, and an accountable reviewer. If local guidance conflicts with a current governing publication, the publication and established engineering process take precedence.

Separate authority levels

Once models, application services, and approved knowledge are staged locally, the core Mimir answer path can operate without public-cloud model APIs or WAN reach-back. That pattern is useful at fixed disconnected sites, aboard platforms, and with forward units operating under DDIL conditions.

The operating concept still needs a plan for content revisions, safety messages, software updates, model changes, backup, and support evidence. Those lifecycles are defined before deployment so the system does not become isolated from the authoritative changes it is meant to surface.

Mission suitability depends on the final hardware, model, content, latency, security configuration, environmental qualification, and evaluation results. No fielded-platform certification is implied.
